[Travel] Contiki Latest Offering: The MUNCH Food Tour!

February 17, 2017 9 Comments A+ a-

The festive season is over, so what's next? Let's start planning for a holiday!

Contiki, the world’s leading travel brand for 18-35 year olds, has been cooking up a storm with international culinary edutainment centre CulinaryOn. Home to the largest cooking studio in Asia and located in the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District, CulinaryOn is joining Contiki to share Contiki’s unique gastronomy trip - Munch - with Singapore’s millennial travellers.

Dedicated to the foodies who need nothing but a fork, a knife and a passport when travelling, Munch provides the ultimate itinerary for all to eat their way across Europe. The trip is led by a unique duo - a Contiki Trip Manager and a foodie social media influencer - who take travellers on a journey aiming to tantalise taste buds.

Spanning 9 days, with stops in Spain, France and Italy, Munch provides travellers the fun of a Contiki trip and the chance to explore like a food expert, focused on sampling delectable local delicacies and wine. Days shall be filled with cooking classes, pasta making, Tuscan dinners, food market outings and wine making; nights will be spent relaxing in comfortable hotels.

We went on a Contiki trip, the European Discovery tour, 2 years back and enjoyed every single moment of it. Covering 9 countries in 12 days, we loved how well the trips were planned, how knowledgeable the Trip Manager was and how we experienced the local way of life. To be honest, I don't think I would want to join packages from local travel agencies again. The cheesiest thing about those tours is being offered Chinese food while in a Western country. C'mon!
Paris, Italy

One of my favourite food recomendations from my European Discovery Tour Manager was Della Palma, the famous ice cream store in Rome which has more than 150 flavours of gelato. I was just totally spoilt for choice, and am sure the Tour Managers for the upcoming Munch tours are going to share so many more fun and yummy places over those 9 days!

Through Munch, travellers get the opportunity to gain skills in the realm of food and wine appreciation. Not only do travellers partake in an enriching learning experience, but they also enjoy a comfortable travel experience: hotel accommodation, luxury coaches and a carefully curated itinerary of included and optional experiences.

Alongside plenty of opportunities for solo exploration, Munch travellers can expect to enjoy:
  • 2 days in Barcelona (Spain): Kick off the journey in style with a traditional Tapas feast, then spend some time exploring beautiful Barcelona and take a Spanish cooking class.
  • 1 day in Aix-en-Provence (France): Arrive into Aix later afternoon and spend some time exploring this stylish town before being treated to a traditional Provençal bouillabaisse dinner.
  • 2 days in Florence (Italy): Enjoy plenty of time to explore Florence, head out for a traditional Tuscan dinner or get straight on the Gelato. Learn to make pasta at a Tuscan villa.
  • 1 day in Bologna (Italy): Get a taste for Bologna while wandering the city’s food markets, then enjoy a traditional dinner of tortellini al ragu.
  • 1 day in Milan (Italy): Spend an afternoon sipping aperol and watching the action on the bustling plazas before a tasty regional risotto dinner.
  • Dedicated Foodie Munch Stops: Arles, Nice, Genoa, San Gimignano and Lake Como!

As a part of Contiki’s Limited Edition Summer Series, Munch will run with smaller groups of 25-30 passengers. Two departures will run in summer 2017, with further departures expected in 2018. More info on Contiki's Munch Tours are available here

PS: As I was looking through my Europe photo albums for this post, I have to say that Switzerland brought back the fondest memories. It was the most romantic; Paris is just way too cliche. What more could one ask for with the gorgeous Swiss alps and beautiful lake? :)
Lake cruise. Lucerne, Switzerland.
Don't miss the raclette if you are a cheese fan! Lucerne, Switzerland.

So don't be an escargot, I mean snail. If you are feeling wanderlust too, do check out Contiki's webpage. Other packages to Europe, USA, Canada, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Latin America are available too :)

Your photos made me hungry! I love that you enjoyed your Contiki trip (I wish we have the same here in Manila). I agree that Switzerland seems a perfect romantic spot and is way better than other popular places. I guess I must schedule a trip here soon! :)

I've never heard about Contiki, this is the first time I learn about it. I hope we also have this in the Philippines and I would definitely enjoy it too just as much you enjoyed your Contiki trip with the hedgehog haha!

This is awesome, and I cannot express my excitement enough for this event! Unfortunately, I am far from Europe to attend this tour. We've had some food tours here in Cebu, and while I love it here, something about hopping from one country to the other to taste their delightful cuisines enticed my foodie spirit. Maybe someday I'll get to join this!

Food looks delicious and very Italian! I'm not European, but I guess there's reason why Elizabeth Gilbert allocated the "Eat" part to that side of Europe. I hope to taste authentic ones too!
